Noida's two kinds of water storage

Noida grew in two distinct waves, and its water storage reflects that.

Older sectors — independent houses and plotted developments in the lower-numbered sectors — usually have a sump and one or more rooftop tanks per house, much like Delhi. Many of these houses have been extended upwards, with separate tanks for each floor.

High-rise group housing — the towers across the central sectors and along the Noida Expressway — store water centrally. A large underground tank (UGT) collects supply from the Noida Authority's network and, in many societies, borewells. Pumps then lift water to overhead tanks on top of each tower, which feed the flats by gravity. In a typical society, residents never see these tanks, and responsibility for cleaning them sits with the AOA (Apartment Owners' Association) or the maintenance agency.

For Noida societies we plan around the tower structure:

1. Underground reservoir first, chamber by chamber, so the society keeps supply.
2. Tower overhead tanks next, one tower at a time, with a schedule your AOA or facility manager can circulate.
3. Records for every tank — before-and-after photos and an itemised bill — so the AOA can answer residents' questions with evidence.

For sector houses, the right booking is usually the sump plus every rooftop tank, cleaned the same day. A 1,000-litre rooftop tank is ₹599 and a typical 1,501–3,000 litre sump is ₹1,099; the quantity discount applies automatically.

Water quality notes for Noida

• Many Noida societies blend municipal supply with borewell water. Borewell water often carries more dissolved minerals and fine sediment, which settles in reservoirs.

• In towers, overhead tanks heat up under the summer sun; clean before peak summer.
